Most large or mid-sized cities have a law library. There are even law libraries located in small cities and towns. This is because most, if not all, law schools require a library of this sort for students to do research. These libraries are full of legal information and resources that can be fascinating and useful. There are a few things to keep in mind about law libraries though.

The first thing to keep in mind is that this type of library is often part of a law school and they are often not open to the public. Sometimes it is possible to get a visitor's pass to a private law library, but this will not allow you to check out any materials. Visitor's passes are more for people who are curious about the library and want to see the inside. It is worth the visit because these libraries are often quite beautiful.

Another thing to keep in mind when it comes to a law library is that many of them are very large and this can make finding information difficult if you do not understand how to properly research. If you do need to use a library such as this it is a good idea to ask for help on your first visit. The librarians are normally more than happy to assist you in learning to find the information you seek.

Another thing to keep in mind is that these libraries are designed for lawyers and law students, not for the general public. Because of this they have slightly different rules regarding checking out materials as well as the use of materials. Certain books can only be checked out for a few hours at a time. This is quite different from traditional libraries.

There is a good chance that there is a law library in your city or town. If you are curious about it or you think that you may need to use it just give the library a call to get more information. If there isn't one in your city there is likely one in a nearby city or town. Keep these few
